Whether
you live in and around Burley or plan to visit, you are most
welcome to come and join us for worship or some other activity.
There is something for everyone to join in and share and it
does not all happen in church on Sunday.
Services
Our main Sunday service is always at 10am. We seek to provide
a variety of styles of worship from Book of Common Prayer Mattins
to informal family services. The regular pattern is sometimes
varied to suit particular Christian Festivals so it is always
wise to check this website or the Village Magazine for details.
In
addition there is always a Prayer Book celebration of Holy Communion
at 8am and occational evening services - again it is wise to
check the calendar.
A
variety of things happen on Sunday evenings on an irregular
basis.
Our
last Alpha group has become interested in Celtic worship and
plans to offer opportunities for others to join them in worship.
During
the week Morning Prayer is said in church at 9am on Tuesdays
and Thursdays and all are welcome.
Nurturing
our Christian Faith
During the year a number of study groups and enquirers courses
are run. An Alpha course usually takes place in the autumn term.
Each evening starts with a meal which is provided and lively
discussion follows on such topics as "How should I read
the Bible?" , "Why did Jesus die?".
The
course is suitable for those wishing to know more about the
Christian faith and those who want to brush up on their knowledge.
These groups usually continue to meet in some form at the end
of the course at their own request.
In
addition there is a Lent Course before Easter and various Home
Study Groups throughout the year. The Vicar can give more information.
